CELTIC NET CLEAN SWEEP
Celtic trio of manager Neil Lennon, defender Charlie Mulgrew and winger James Forrest managed to pick up the Clydesdale Bank Premier League end of season awards in a clean sweep.
Celtic have by far been the best team in the Scottish Premier league, although many would say that it is partly down to the financial difficulties faced by Rangers. However, there can be no denying that the Celtic trio of Neil Lennon, Charlie Mulgrew, and James Forrest do not deserve a chance to win the end of the season awards. Celtic have recently claimed the title from Rangers and are currently 20 points ahead of them in the table.
Even though it partly has to do with the points deduction for Rangers, Celtic simply blown away their opponents in the Scottish league this season. Charlie Mulgrew and James Forrest have been excellent for Celtic this season. As a result, they have also been set for their international debut. Neil Lennon became the permanent manager of Celtic at the start of the 2010-11 season. It was during this time that both Charlie Mulgrew and James Forrest began experiencing regular first-team football at Celtic. While Charlie Mulgrew was signed from Aberdeen by Neil Lennon, James Forrest is a youth academy product.
“It’s a great feeling to be voted for by your fellow professionals and to win these awards is brilliant but the most important thing is we won the league. It’s a team game and as a team we won that, we’re delighted. When the players you play against vote for you it’s a real honour, so that one really tops it off. Winning the cups would have been nice after getting to a semi-final and final but we’d have taken winning the league at the start of the season," said Charlie Mulgrew after picking the award.
